Rosberg up to speed as F1 test begins

Nico Rosberg set the pace on the first morning of F1 testing in Jerez, the Mercedes driver completing a race distance and dipping below last year's best time. Having pulled the covers off the W06 in the morning, Rosberg was the first driver on track in the title-defending car and quickly got to work, covering 66 laps over the opening four hours and stopping the clock at 1min 23.106secs on his best circulation. The German is already two tenths quicker than the fastest time from four days of Jerez testing a year ago – set by Kevin Magnussen -, though weather was poorer 12 months ago and it was the first outing for the new generation cars.
