FIA reveals amended Super Licence system

Williams Martini Racing The FIA has revealed its updated criteria which drivers must meet before they can gain their Super Licence. A driver needs a Super Licence to compete in Formula 1 but the rules will be modified for applicants from next year. Alongside a minimum age of 18, 300km of testing, two years in junior series and passing a test on the sporting regulations, youngsters will have to gain 40 points during three seasons prior to their application. Winners of GP2, FIA Formula 3, IndyCar and the LMP1 class of the World Endurance Championship will automatically qualify for a Super Licence within a three year period, while a future FIA-backed F2 Series will reward drivers with the...
