Hamilton wins BBC Sports Personality of the Year
– World Champion Lewis Hamilton has added to his post-season accolades after winning the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.The Mercedes driver won a public vote against nine other British candidates from the sporting world and was presented with the trophy during a ceremony in Glasgow.Hamilton finished as runner-up in the competition in 2007 and 2008 but claimed the prize to go with his second Formula 1 title, which he clinched in Abu Dhabi at the end of November.Hamilton became the first personality from the world of Motor Sport to win the award since Damon Hill in 1996.John Surtees, Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart and Nigel Mansell have also won the...
