Grosjean: Vergne contact cost me points
Romain Grosjean has vented his frustration after a late collision with fellow countryman Jean-Eric Vergne at turn one during the United States Grand Prix, which ultimately saw the Lotus driver sustain damage on his car and slide out of the points-paying positions. Vergne eventually finished ninth after Maldonado’s timed penalty, but received a penalty of his own and was demoted to tenth.
After a season of lacklustre results and recurring mechanical gremlins, Lotus finally appeared to enjoy one of their most competitive races so far this season around Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, with both Grosjean and team-mate Pastor Maldonado running within the points at one stage.
