Austin Qualifying: Rosberg stumps Hamilton

Nico Rosberg will start the United States GP from pole Nico Rosberg signalled his intent to keep his title hopes alive by claiming pole position for the United States Grand Prix after playing second fiddle to his Mercedes teammate and title rival Lewis hamilton in the three free practice sessions at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Rosberg trails Hamilton by 17 points in the standings and needs a string of good results to contain the Briton's gap at the top of the table. He thus dug deep in Austin to take top spot on the grid for race day.
