Caterham confused by Kobayashi retirement comments
+ Caterham team boss Manfredo Ravetto has issued a response to confused suggestions that Kamui Kobayashi retired from the Russian Grand Prix to conserve mileage.
Kobayashi quietly retired his car from Sunday’s race in Sochi, with the team reporting that the Japanese racer had stopped due to a developing brake issue.
However, the 28-year-old told a different story to the media following his retirement, suggesting that he had been told to park his car early to conserve mileage.
A ‘surprised’ Ravetto has dismissed those comments, stating that the team retired Kobayashi as a precaution with his safety in mind.
