Magnussen gets with grid penalty for gearbox change

Sutton Images Enlarge Kevin Magnussen has been handed a five-place grid penalty after a gearbox failure in the opening minutes of FP3. Magnussen completed just four laps before a scary wobble through the flat-out Turn 3, though he managed to control his McLaren and keep it out of the wall. The session was red-flagged while Magnussen was removed from the car, with the subsequent gearbox change earning him a penalty. It is the second gearbox-related grid penalty handed out for the Sochi race, with Force India's Nico Hulkenberg also set to be relegated five places from wherever he finishes in Saturday afternoon's qualifying session.
