Alonso surprised by qualifying performance

dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.15;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;">   September 20th 2014 (F1Plus / Rosie Baillie) - Fernando Alonso says he is surprised by his fifth place grid position for the Singapore Grand Prix. The Spaniard, who was fastest in the first and final practice session, said he didn’t expect the team to be competitive during qualifying. Alonso added that the team had made a step forward but warned that you couldn’t compare performance at a circuit like Singapore with other circuits. “If you had told me yesterday that we would still be competitive in qualifying, probably I wouldn’t have believed it,” said Alonso. “And in fact this...
