Pirelli announces Japan and Russia compounds

Pirelli has named its tyre compound choices for the Japanese Grand Prix and inaugural race in Russia. Suzuka's high-speed nature has seen Pirelli opt for the hardest two compounds available in its range - the hard and medium - for the race in Japan, which will be the fifth time this season that combination has been used. For Sochi the medium and soft compounds will be used, which has been Pirelli's most popular choice so far this year. The tyre manufacturer confirmed that the Russian Grand Prix selection had been tough due to it being a new circuit.
