Hamilton: 'Why no Safety Car?'

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, with regret for the former and relief for the latter, have expressed their surprise that a Safety Car wasn't deployed towards the end of the German GP. With the Sauber of Adrian Sutil stranded in the middle of the straight, the appearance of the Safety Car seemed inevitable with just over twenty laps of the grand prix remaining.The frontrunning Mercedes team evidently believed as much, calling in Hamilton three laps ahead of schedule for a new set of supersoft tyres that were to fade to costly effect in the final throes as the Englishman vainly attempted to chase down the second-placed Valtteri Bottas.
