Hamilton likely to start from pitlane, takes penalty

Lewis Hamilton is likely to start the German Grand Prix from the pitlane after Mercedes signalled they would change his brake discs from Brembo to Carbon Industrie. The Briton suffered a brake disc failure during qualifying which span him into the barriers, ending his session and putting him 15th on the grid. Such a change to a different brake disc supplier would require a car to be taken out of parc ferme conditions and therefore under the rules, they must start from the pitlane.
