Hamilton takes dominant British GP victory as Rosberg retires

Lewis Hamilton stormed to a dominant home win at the British Grand Prix, cutting the gap at the head of the drivers’ championship to just four points after his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg retired with a gearbox issue. Hamilton, who started just sixth after an error in qualifying, proved faultless on the day, as he secured his second Formula One victory at Silverstone, six years after his last win at home in 2008. Valtteri Bottas came home second for Williams, the Finn taking his second consecutive podium finish and a career best result despite starting just 14th.
