Silverstone Practice 1: Rosberg strikes first

Nico Rosberg tops in FP1 at Silverstone Nico Rosberg set the pace in the first free practice session of the British Grand Prix weekend, ending up three quarters of a second up on Mercedes teammate, and championship rivals Lewis Hamilton as the Silver Arrows once again set themselves up as the team to beat. In contrast their closest rivals – Williams – had a torrid opening session at Silverstone with Susie Wolff, on duty in FP1 in place Valtteri Bottas, forced to park the FW36 with technical problems and not long after Felipe Massa slamming the wall within sight of the stricken sister car. The big impact destroyed most of the front end of the car. Report in progress.
