Rosberg dominates opening practice in Silverstone
Nico Rosberg set the pace for Mercedes during opening practice ahead of the British Grand Prix. Rosberg, who suffered a minor ERS issue in the morning, topped the session with a best lap of 1:35.424, to edge out his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton by seven tenths of a second. Fernando Alonso rounded out the top three for Ferrari, eight tenths adrift of Rosberg’s session topping time.
Daniel Ricciardo ended the morning fourth in the lead Red Bull, with Kimi Raikkonen, just a tenth shy in fifth for Ferrari.
Sebastian Vettel was sixth fastest for Red Bull, ahead of McLaren’s Jenson Button and Daniil Kvyat in the first of the Toro Rosso cars.
