Brabham honoured with state funeral

– The Brabham family, friends and fans from around the world converged to honour three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jack Brabham at a state funeral in Queensland, Australia, on Wednesday.Brabham, who became the first driver in the history of Formula 1 to notch up a World Championship behind the wheel of a self-made machine, passed away peacefully at his Gold Coast home on May 19, at the age of 88.With flags flying at half-mast on government buildings, Brabham – whose coffin was adorned with his helmet, steering wheel and a chequered flag – was remembered in a special service at the Southport Church of Christ.Among those present were 1980 F1 title winner Alan Jones and V8...
