Rosberg snatches pole from Hamilton in Canada

Nico Rosberg has secured pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix after beating his team-mate Lewis Hamilton, who had to settle for second. Sebastian Vettel improved to third place in the closing stages of the top 10 shoot-out. The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was bathed in sunshine as the first segment of qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix kicked off. Only 21 drivers competed in the session, as a crash in third practice meant Esteban Gutierrez was unable to take part. Marcus Ericsson and Valtteri Bottas were the first to take to the track after a quiet start to Q1.
