Alonso tops wet second practice at Monaco

Fernando Alonso jumped into the spotlights during today's second free practice session as the Spaniard set the fastest time of the afternoon, topping Lewis Hamilton in a rain-hit session. The session started off wet as a hailstorm hit the track soon after the morning session, leaving the track dry and discouraging anyone to go out in the first half hour of FP2. Only Valtteri Bottas dared to go out, following which a period of intermediate running embarked. As the track slowly dried, the slicks came out in the final 10 minutes after which Alonso ended up more than 4 tenths faster than Lewis Hamilton who was atop the time sheet during the morning session.
