Vergne hit with £25k fine and ten-place penalty

Toro Rosso and Jean-Eric Vergne have been handed a double punishment for their unsafe release during the second practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix. The Frenchman faces a ten-place grid drop for the race, whilst his team have been handed a £25,000 (€30,000, $41,000) fine. It comes after Vergne's right-rear wheel came free from the car as he rounded turn two, finally coming to a rest at turn three. Laurent Mekies, head of vehicle performance, says the team now understand what went wrong and they hope to rectify it for the fyture.
