Alonso records Ferrari's first podium of the season

Fernando Alonso held off fast-charging Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo to finish third at the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday and give Ferrari its first podium finish of the year, with new team principal Marco Mattiacci watching from the garage. Bereft of a top-three result in the opening three races and enduring an almost-humiliating result in the preceding Bahrain GP, Alonso salvaged some consolation by finished behind the two dominant Mercedes drivers in Shanghai.
