Alonso on top in FP1 to kick off Chinese GP weekend

Fernando Alonso topped the time sheets in FP1 on a very green Shanghai International Circuit, ending (at least temporarily) Mercedes' tight grip on the Formula One field. Rain threatened to disrupt this morning's running early on, but early reports of raindrops were not substantiated by the real thing. Jenson Button was the first driver to venture out on the slippery track. He, along with Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, tested the waters but quickly headed back into the pits. We soon started to see some timed laps, with the Williams of Felipe Massa the first to top the time sheets followed closely by Felipe Nasr (filling in for Valtteri Bottas) and Kevin Magnussen. It wasn't long, however,...
