Global F1 audience falls by 50m; US audience rises by 10%
The TV viewing figures for the 2013 Formula One season show that there was a fall of over 50 million viewers globally as Sebastian Vettel wrapped up the championship with plenty of time to spare.
Across the world, some 450 million people tuned in to watch Formula One in 2013, making it one of the most watched sporting events (trailing behind just the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup) according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
The loss of around 10% of viewers could be a cause for concern. However, given that Vettel was pretty much assured of the title following the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of August, many opted not to watch the final few races for fear of it being a foregone...
