McLaren promote Vandoorne to reserve role

McLaren Young Driver Stoffel Vandoorne has been confirmed as the team's reserve driver for the 2014 Formula 1 season. The Belgian driver finished as runner-up to McLaren's 2014 rookie Kevin Magnussen in last year's Formula Renault 3.5 season, scoring four wins and six further podium finishes. The 21-year-old will combine his reserve role duties with a full campaign in the GP2 series, driving for top team ART Grand Prix, who took former McLaren protégé Lewis Hamilton to the series title in 2oo6.
