Pole position trophy to be awarded in 2014
From next season the driver who achieves the most pole positions will be awarded a special trophy.With fans still reeling from the news that the season ending race will see drivers awarded double points, the 2014 Sporting Regulations reveal that the sport's powers that be have missed another golden opportunity.Rather than awarding points for pole position and/or fastest lap, which would add a little spice, the driver that starts from pole most times will get to take home a nice trophy.Article 6.7 of the regulations reads: 'A trophy will be awarded to the driver who sets the most pole positions during the championship season (see Article 36.2).
