Todt supports permanent driver numbers

– FIA President Jean Todt has supported the recently proposed idea of allowing drivers, with the exception of the reigning World Champion, to use permanent car numbers. Todt, who was re-elected for a second term last week, says it is at present difficult for fans to identify drivers, adding that although sponsor space is limited, solutions can be found. And with Formula 1's Strategy Group set to discuss the matter at its next meeting, the Frenchman has given the concept a verbal seal of approval.
