Qualifying form 'a welcome surprise' for Williams

After a troubled Friday practice for Williams at Suzuka, which included a hefty 60,000 euro fine for the team afte a wheel detached itself from Pastor Maldonado's car in the morning session, qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix proved to be a much more upbeat affair for the team and drivers Valtteri Bottas and Pastor Maldonado.Both drivers survived Q1 to make it through to Q2, in Bottas case by two tenths of a second despite a manic final few minutes after the track reopened following a suspension while a smoking Toro Rosso was removed from the trackside.
