Webber warns Formula 1 over pay drivers

Mark Webber has warned Formula 1 that the sport risks losing talented youngsters if there is a continued reliance on taking those drivers with financial backing. A combination of factors – including the continuing economic problems – have resulted in teams requiring to sign ‘pay drivers.' Webber will retire at the end of the season and he will be replaced at Red Bull by Daniel Ricciardo. Five drivers made their debut in 2013, but neither GP2 champion Davide Valsecchi nor Formula Renault 3.5 Series champion Robin Frijns could find a race seat in Formula 1.
