McLaren aiming only for ‘consolidation’

Martin Whitmarsh has conceded that McLaren will only be able to ‘consolidate’ their position in the Constructors’ Championship, and that top ten finishes - rather than podiums - are the realistic aim as the season comes to a close. Ahead of the Korean Grand Prix, the Woking-based squad has yet to visit the rostrum in 2013, and is locked in a battle with Force India for fifth place in the points standings. With most resources now solely focussed on 2014, Whitmarsh is looking forward to seeing the back of a disappointing campaign.
