F1 set to introduce Friday young driver test plan

A new test plan to offer better opportunities for young drivers is set to be introduced in 2014. The proposal, which was agreed upon by all of the teams during a meeting of the Sporting Working Committee ahead of this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, would see the first free practice session on Friday extended from its current 90 minute format to 2 hours. To encourage the teams to run test drivers, they will be allowed to swap drivers during the session, so that their main race drivers are not put at a disadvantage due to a loss of track time. In addition, teams will also be allocated an extra set of tyres, which can only be used during the first 30 minutes of the session by a test...
