We need to be lucky, admits Alonso
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has conceded that he "needs to be lucky" if he is to prevent Red Bull rival Sebastian Vettel claiming a fourth world title this season. The Spaniard could do nothing to halt Vettel's charge during the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, and had to settle for the runner-up spot. He falls another seven points adrift in the championship standings, and is now trailing by a margin of 53. "I think we need to be realistic," explained Alonso. "It's still a very big gap and we don't have enough races, and probably not the speed right now, to win some consecutive races. We need to be lucky and we need to have some retirements from Seb to win...
