Perez: McLaren have made a good step

Sergio Perez says he is pleased with the progress both he and his McLaren team have made over the course of the 2013 season, with the Woking-based squad enjoying a performance revival in recent weeks following a difficult start to the campaign. Team boss Martin Whitmarsh had initially been forced to defend his judgement over the signing of Perez, after the Mexican’s meek displays in the opening races had drawn criticism. With McLaren famed for their aggressive approach to car development, Perez admits that he found it difficult to adjust to the new environment, but believes he is now fully acclimatised and ready to show his true potential.
