Webber hits out at pay driver generation
Mark Webber has hit out at the ‘pay driver' generation of Formula One drivers, believing that the quality of the field is on the decline.
The Australian driver debuted in 2002 and the sport has undergone dramatic changes since then as pay drivers – drivers who are backed by wealthy sponsors – have become prevalent and somewhat taboo in Formula One. In Webber's eyes, this is causing the more talented drivers who lack sponsorship to miss out on an opportunity that, back in 2002, would have been there for them.
