Fernando Alonso under investigation for illegal DRS activation
Fernando Alonso’s 5th place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix could well be at risk, after it was discovered that the two-time Champion allegedly activated his DRS overtaking device on three occasions during the race whilst not within the DRS activation zone. The matter has been referred to the race stewards by the FIA’s Technical Delegate, Jo Bauer.
After the 70-lap Hungarian Grand Prix around the tight and twisty confines of the Hungaroring, Fernando Alonso’s DRS activation data indicated that the Spaniard had activated the overtaking assist on three separate occasions despite not being within one second of the car in front.
