Mercedes playing catch up with new tyres

Mercedes face an uphill challenge at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix as they trial Pirelli's new tyres for the first time. Mercedes missed last week's young driver tests as a result of the International Tribunal's verdict, having conducted a private tyre test with Pirelli in May. 'It will be an important weekend for us and we need to get off to a good start on Friday when we have the chance to try the new tyres for the first time,' said Lewis Hamilton. 'The season has not been without its challenges and we have had some very tough races,' added team principal Ross Brawn.
