Todt likely to face election opposition
FIA president Jean Todt seems set to face a battle in his bid for re-election to the top post of motorsport’s governing body, with a key aide of Max Mosley emerging as a strong opposition candidate. It had been thought that Todt may run uncontested in the vote this coming autumn, but a report in The Times suggests that opponents of the Frenchman are trying to persuade current Director General of the FIA Foundation for the Automobile and Society David Ward to run. Ward, who also worked on Todt’s successful campaign for the presidency three years ago, already has a background in politics.
