Magnussen tops opening day at Silverstone

Kevin Magnussen set the pace as the Young Driver Test got underway at Silverstone on Wednesday. The McLaren tester, who amassed 100 laps en route to a best time of 1:33.602 in the final half an hour, placed 0.172 seconds ahead of Force India's Paul di Resta, with Red Bull junior driver António Félix da Costa occupying third. In stark contrast to the British Grand Prix weekend, testing action commenced amid clear blue skies and pleasant track temperatures.
