Bernie indicted for alleged bribery
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has been indicted for alleged bribery by German prosecutors, according to a report.
The case relates to the sale of a Formula One stake to German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky of Bayern Landesbank eight years ago. Gribkowsky was jailed for eight-and-a-half years last year after he was convicted of breach of trust, tax evasion and bribery for the $44million (£28m) received from Ecclestone during the deal in 2005. Speaking to the Financial Times on Wednesday, Mr Ecclestone said: "I have just spoken to my lawyers and they have received an indictment. It's being translated into English."
