Teams permitted to use full-time drivers during YDT
The FIA has confirmed that the ten teams invited to the Young Drivers' Test between 17-19 July will be permitted to use their full-time race drivers in order to improve their knowledge of the Pirelli tyres to avoid a repeat of the accidents at the British Grand Prix last weekend.
A series of failures caused many to question quite whether the tyres were safe to use, let alone whether they allowed for true racing to ensue. After the teams that had previously blocked Pirelli's bid to change the design of the tyres accepted that alterations were necessary, the FIA has decided to allow the test to take place.
