Ricciardo tops wet first practice at Silverstone

June 28th, 2013 (F1Plus / Chris Cameron-Dow) - Rain, rain and more rain seems to be the order of the day at Silverstone. The first practice session was characterised by huge plumes of spray being thrown up behind the few cars that spent time on track. Only 11 drivers set lap times, and the quickest of those was Toro Rosso's Daniel Ricciardo. There was very little point in running in the wet, as both qualifying and the race are expected to take place in dry conditions. However, given that this afternoon's second session is also likely to be wet, the teams are stuck in quite a difficult situation: They need to spend time on track in order to collect data that can help with their setup...
