Pirelli confident it is exempt from sanctions

Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli is confident that it will not be sanctioned by governing body the FIA for staging a test with Mercedes following the Spanish Grand Prix. At the opening day of the International Tribunal, the FIA and Mercedes were first to argue their cases, with the governing body claiming that no official permission was given for the test, while the Silver Arrows remain confident no rules have been broken. After a lunch break, Pirelli spoke out, with lawyer Dominique Dumas claiming that as it is not an FIA license holder, it is not open to sanctions from the governing body.
