Van der Garde elated with fifteenth
Giedo van der Garde praised his Caterham team after qualifying in fifteenth place for the Monaco Grand Prix.
Damp conditions allowed Van der Garde to progress through to Q2 for the first time in his Formula 1 career.
While he flirted with making it through to Q3, Van der Garde edged out Pastor Maldonado and ended up in fifteenth.
'I’m obviously very pleased to put my name into the Q2 timesheets for the first time this year and I want to thank the whole team for the jobs everyone did today. Honestly, it’s a great feeling.'
'For a while we were looking at Q3, but that’s not where we are performance-wise yet, so we’re all really happy with Q2.'
