January test on the cards for 2014

The Formula One teams could start testing in January next season in a bid to get in as much running as possible with the new 1.6l V6s. Next season the sport will swap from the current 2.4l V8 engines to 1.6l V6 turbos. The massive change has prompted the teams and engine manufacturer to put forward a proposal to begin testing in January, despite testing being banned for that month. "We will have to anticipate the programme by two or three weeks," Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn told Autosport. "If we leave it late, for our car that is okay.
