Bird hangs on to secure victory

Sam Bird secured the first GP2 victory for Russian Time after a thrilling finale to the Sprint race in Bahrain. Bird took the lead from pole sitter and team-mate Tom Dillmann early on and established a comfortable lead over Stefano Coletti, who also quickly usurped Dillmann. Felipe Nasr dispatched with Dillmann but the leading trio soon spread out as the race progressed. But as the race neared its conclusion Bird begun to struggle with his tyres, allowing Coletti and Nasr to close in during the final two laps.
