Ecclestone says Mercedes was Hamiltons second choice

Lewis Hamilton wanted to be Sebastian Vettel's teammate at Red Bull this year, according to Bernie Ecclestone. Ultimately, the 2008 world champion left McLaren but joined Mercedes. Ten days ago, however, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner revealed that Hamilton's first choice may have been different. "It (Hamilton joining) wouldn't have been right for the team," Horner had said in Melbourne. "I have great admiration for the talent he has but I don't think Lewis and Sebastian would be the right combination."
