FR3.5 champion Frijns left without GP2 seat

Robin Frijns will not be on the grid for the opening races of this year's GP2 campaign in Malaysia, the Dutchman and Sauber reserve confirmed to GPUpdate.net on Tuesday. Despite impressing for both Trident and Russian Time throughout testing, the respective outfits have now confirmed rival drivers for the upcoming season. "I am currently empty-handed," Frijns explained to GPUpdate.net. "It is ultimately about money, which I don't have. I'm not going to start a season if I'm not sure whether I can finish it.
