Red Bull rips off contest winners, lands in trouble

In a contest run last year through an advert in an online magazine, Red Bull had offered the chance to 'Win a VIP trip to watch the Belgium Grand Prix', a competition that landed the energy drinks manufacturer in a tangle that it lost. The contest winners had approached the Advertising Standards Authority stating that the competition had not been administered properly and 'the description of the prize as 'VIP' was misleading'. The winner of the contest and his brother were subjected to a nightmarish experience which included flying to Cologne in Germany, from where they had to make it to a hotel in the Netherlands.
