Caterham's clever exhausts
Exhaust development was a popular aerodynamic theme in Formula One throughout 2012, and thanks to a small but clever innovation on the Caterham CT-03, exhausts are set remain in the technical spotlight. Caterham is one of the smallest teams in Formula One but even the less successful squads are filled with some brilliant engineering minds. The new CT-03 sports a unique exhaust feature that is now likely to be copied by most of the grid. Caterham has introduced a small fin that directs exhaust flow towards the floor of the car, and therefore towards the aerodynamically sensitive diffuser.
