Ferrari pays tribute to V8s in naming new F1 car

Ferrari has revealed that its new Formula 1 car for the 2013 season will be called the F138 dedicating the name to V8 engines, which will run for the final year in the sport this season. Regulations for 2014 stipulate V6 engines, consequently ending the eight year V8 era which began in 2005. “The name of the 59th car built by Ferrari to compete at the highest level of motorsport derives from a combination of the current year and the number of cylinders,” explained the Italian team on its website. Ferrari will be unveiling its new car at Maranello on Friday.
