Turkish government refuses to pay for Grand Prix

Turkey’s sports ministry has scrapped the notion of funding the country’s return to the Formula 1 calendar next year. Organisers of the Turkish Grand Prix had agreed 'in principle' with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone to revive the event in 2013, but had clarified that the final decision rested with the government. However, Turkey’s sports minister Suat Kilic said that there was nothing on the government's agenda about the return of F1 to the country, quashing the organisers hopes of raising the $13.5 million it sought to hold the Grand Prix.
